At just 15, Joshua Tyler Veldhuis has made an incredible impact in golf, winning the Junior Club Championship in 2024, only six months after picking up the sport. Now competing in Gauteng North Golf Union (GNGU) events and training with a professional coach, he is dedicated to becoming a pro. What are Joshua’s biggest achievements in golf so far?
Joshua has made incredible progress in his golf journey. His key achievements include:
2024 Junior Club Champion – Winning his first-ever tournament! Holding the title of youngest club champion in the Junior Division.
2025, 2nd place Junior Club Championship – He finished the tournament in 2nd place and missed it by only 2 shots
losing the title to a contender (3 and a half years his senior ). He got the Best Junior Nett Award. 
3 Handicap, 3 Index – Achieved through hard work and dedication, this is Joshua’s most recent.
Competing in GNGU and local tournaments against top young golfers. Josh has won 1st place (B Div) at 4 competitions in 2025. Josh was promoted and is now competing in the A Division in 2026
20+ hours of training per week to continuously improve his skills

How does Joshua balance golf with school and everyday life?
Joshua is highly disciplined and manages his time carefully to balance school, golf training, and competitions. He dedicates around 20 hours per week to practicing, while also prioritising his studies. Golf has helped him develop focus, resilience, stamina and concentration and regulation skills, which he applies both on and off the course.
